Recipe To Make Your Own Raw Honey Graham Crackers

Honey graham crackers have been around in the consumer market for well over a century with countless generations enjoying them. There’s only one problem: The types of honey used in these store-bought products usually aren’t raw.

Plus, those famous graham crackers usually have a lot more refined sugar. What if you could make your own honey graham crackers at home using raw honey for some major health benefits?

Let’s look at some additional information on how you can make them on your own.

Putting Together the Flour

To begin the process of making your honey graham crackers, you’ll need two cups of wheat flour, one cup of all-purpose flour, one teaspoon of baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda.

Sift this all together on a clean surface, then set aside for now. This will eventually be the bulk of how your graham crackers are made.

Next comes the internal ingredients, which includes a healthy dose of raw honey.

Mixing Together the Flavors of Your Graham Crackers

You’ll need one-half cup of softened margarine, one-half cup of brown sugar, one-third cup of raw honey, one teaspoon of vanilla extract, and one-half cup of milk as your flavorings.

Pour this into a mixing bowl and stir. Then add in your sifted dough to the bowl and stir together.

You’re not quite ready yet to place this in the oven. You have to keep the mixture refrigerated overnight before placing the dough onto cookie sheets.

The Next Day: Properly Shaping the Graham Cracker Dough

Now that the dough is properly chilled, you need to carefully cut it into quarters. As you lay out these quarters onto a cutting board, cut each quarter into approximately a 5x15 shape. It’s this shape that’s the standard graham cracker rectangle we’ve all grown up with over the years.

Keep in mind you can shape the dough any way you want it if you want to try something different. If you have kids, you can even make honey graham crackers into creative shapes, or use cookie cutters.

Just be sure to cut holes in each piece with a fork. Then place each dough shape onto a cookie sheet without using any grease.

As you prepare the cracker shapes, preheat your oven to 350F. Place the cookie sheet with the dough into the oven for about 15 minutes.

Serving Your Honey Graham Crackers

Following this recipe, you’ve just made the basic recipe for the graham crackers you’ve grown up with since a kid. Everyone will be amazed you were able to make such a thing while still adding something healthy to the mix via organic honeys.

Yes, adding raw honey here gives you something you don’t get in the consumer-bought versions of graham crackers.

Reason being is that raw honey isn’t pasteurized, meaning it retains all the natural antioxidants, amino acids, anti-inflammatory qualities, vitamins, and minerals present. Pasteurized honey is overheated, hence killing all those healthful elements.

Don’t be afraid to tell your friends and family this, hence why you made those raw honey graham crackers in the first place.

Besides, your kids will love having these homemade, especially when making them look more personalized. At the same time, you’re giving your family something more nutritious without consuming a snack with granulated sugar that could cause heart disease.
